Orange Bowl Creative Art contest Encouraging Youth to 'Commit To Be Fit'
Beginning in September, the Orange Bowl Committee embarked on a school tour throughout South Florida to encourage K-12 students to “commit to be fit” and participate in the 2015 Orange Bowl Creative Art Contest presented by Florida Prepaid College Board.
The program, which focuses on health and wellness initiatives, is open to all students in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. These students have the opportunity to win a multitude of great prizes by submitting artwork that exemplifies this year’s theme of “Champions Commit to be Fit”. First, second and third place winners are selected from four categories (kindergarten – 2nd grade; 3rd grade – 5th grade; 6th grade – 8th grade and 9th – 12th grade) by a panel of judges. All winners will receive four tickets to the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic on Saturday, Dec. 19, 5 p.m., at the BB&T Center.
The Grand Prize winner’s artwork will be featured as a full page acknowledgement in the 2015 College Football Playoff at the Capital One Orange Bowl game program and he/she will receive two tickets to the game and be part of a special on-field presentation during the game. The Grand Prize winner will also receive a $500 Nike gift card, an Orange Bowl bicycle and a Florida 529 savings plan with an initial contribution of $1,000 on behalf of Florida Prepaid College Board. Last year’s Grand Prize winner was Carina Zatarain from Hialeah- Miami Lakes Sr. High (artwork pictured).
Not only does the program reward the students who participate, but it makes an effort to show appreciation for those teachers and educators who encourage their students to live active, healthy lifestyles. The top five teachers that submit the most entries will receive $50 gift cards from Office Max. Florida Prepaid College Board will also award the “Educator of the Season”, the teacher that submits the most entries, with a $250 Scholastic gift card, tickets to the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic and recognition during an on-court ceremony.
Additional prizes are as follows:
First Prize (four winners): $200 Nike Gift Card and a Florida Prepaid College Board prize pack including a Florida 529 savings plan with an initial contribution of $500 on behalf of Florida Prepaid College Board
Second Prize (four winners): $100 Nike Gift Card
Third Prize (four winners): $50 Nike Gift Card
The school that submits the most entries is eligible to win an Orange Bowl and Florida Prepaid School Takeover!
