Get involved in the Orange Bowl Kicks for Kids Program
For the fourth consecutive year, the Orange Bowl is presenting Kicks for Kids, a program designed to provide South Florida’s underserved youth the opportunity to participate in and reap the rewards of sports and exercise by receiving a pair of good athletic sneakers or cleats.
Participating schools will collect as many new or gently used athletic shoes and cleats as they can during the month of November. The six top collecting schools will receive a grant up to $1,500 from the Orange Bowl.
The Orange Bowl is once again partnering with In Jacob’s Shoes to clean any shoes that are in need and they will distribute a portion.
Overall, the Orange Bowl has collected more than 4,000 shoes. This year, the Orange Bowl’s goal is to collect 5,000 pairs for South Florida's youth.
Kicks for Kids is supported by TD Bank and Baptist Health South Florida, which will collect shoes at participating Miami-Dade and Broward County Urgent Care and Medical Plaza locations from November 10th - January 5th.
The Orange Bowl and Baptist Health South Florida are also hosting a photo challenge, where people can post pictures of themselves donating shoes at the Baptist Health collection sites for a chance to win a VIP experience for four (4) at the 2015 MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic featuring game tickets and behind-the-scenes access. To participate, donors are encouraged to use the hashtag #Kicks4KidsChallenge and tag @BaptistHealthSF on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and nominate their family and friends to take the challenge.
A good pair of sneakers is all it takes!
