CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED CHEF PAULA DASILVA WILL SERVE AS CELEBRITY CHEF FOR ORANGE BOWL FOOD & WINE CELEBRATION ON MAY 19
Paula DaSilva, executive chef of the Artisan Beach House at the Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour, will serve as celebrity chef for the annual Orange Bowl Food & Wine Celebration presented by Florida Blue, Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center at 7:30 p.m.
Chef DaSilva began her culinary career at 3030 Ocean at the Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa in 2000. While fine-tuning her culinary skills there, she appeared on FOX Television’s “Hell’s Kitchen,” finishing as the runner-up for season five and cementing her place as one of South Florida’s celebrity chefs. In 2010, the Brazilian native was named executive chef of 1500⁰ at Eden Rock Renaissance Miami Beach, before returning to 3030 Ocean. She and her restaurants have been honored and/or won numerous awards both locally and nationally, including being the only Florida restaurant in Esquire’s annual feature “The Best New Restaurants in America” in 2011 and “Best Celebrity Chef” in Broward/Palm Beach New Times for 2009.
A graduate of the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, she has also received several awards for her efforts in supporting the local community, including the prestigious Women’s Circle of Excellence award given by the Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce for her services in hospitality. Chef DaSilva was invited to be a guest chef at the James Beard House in New York City, and is a seven-time participant in the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival in Orlando. Paula was also seen nationally on “NBC’s Today” as a featured guest chef during the promotions leading up to the Rio de Janiero Olympics in her home country.
Previous celebrity chefs for the Orange Bowl Food & Wine Celebration presented by Florida Blue have included Michael Schwartz, Rocco DiSpirito, Fabio Viviani and Norman Van Aken. The evening will be hosted by Lisa Petrillo, the Entertainment and Lifestyle Reporter for WFOR, CBS4 in Miami. Evan Benn, editor in chief of INDULGE, the Miami Herald’s luxury lifestyle magazine, will serve as judges’ captain.
Tickets begin at just $95 and include unlimited samplings from approximately 30 of South Florida’s top restaurants, complimentary selections from the open bars, live entertainment, raffle prizes, a silent auction, gift bags and other surprises. One outstanding South Florida resident will be honored with the 2017 Keith Tribble Community Service Excellence Award for the work he or she does to make a difference.
Over the years, the Orange Bowl has been able to invest millions of dollars in the South Florida community through its four pillars of community outreach: youth sports, fundraising and community events, academic programs and scholarships, and legacy gifts. At this year’s event, approximately $100,000 will be given back to the South Florida community. Proceeds from The Orange Bowl Food & Wine Celebration presented by Florida Blue will go toward Make-A-Wish Southern Florida, Special Olympics Florida and the Orange Bowl Leadership Academy.
